S01: stories from the greenhouse
about our first residency programIn 2016, the Association inaugurated its Residency Programme,
addressed primarily to Cypriot artists living in Cyprus and abroad.
Through this programme, phytorio creates a space for experemintation which supports the visual arts and research, drawing attention to issues of collectivity and collaboration. By encouraging dialogue and connec-tions between visual artists but also between artists and the public, the site of Phytorio is offered to the residents as a studio for the production of thought and practice during the summer. Whenever necessary, a place of residence is provi-ded for the artists, as was the case in 2016, in coope-ration with NiMAC (Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre).
At the end of the residency, Phytorio opened to the public so that the works can be exhibited to visitors, and together, both artists and audience can have the opportunity to meet and talk. The vitality of our residents activates the space of Phytorio and contributes to setting up the condi-tions of art production, which is also the principal goal of the association and its members.
